The Bongo Constituency Executives Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Chairman Alhaji Tahiru Aberinga, has expressed strong support for Akamugri Donatus Atanga, who has been nominated as the Upper East Regional Minister-designate by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama. The committee highlighted that Akamugri’s extensive experience and proven leadership made him an ideal choice for this important role, which they believe will spearhead development and progress in the Upper East Region.
In a statement signed by the Bongo Constituency Party Communication Officer, Mr. Edward Asekere Abesiwine, the committee thanked the president for nominating a son of Bongo Nayorigo, recognizing that Akamugri’s unwavering dedication, loyalty, and exceptional leadership have been evident throughout his decades of commendable service to the NDC. Akamugri boasts an impressive political career that spans over three decades. He served as an Assembly Member for the Nayorigo Electoral Area of the Bongo District Assembly from 1994 to 2006 and was the Presiding Member of the Bongo District Assembly from 2005 to 2006. He has held several positions, including Constituency Youth Organizer for Bongo in 1993, Deputy Upper East Regional Youth Organizer in the same year, Acting Upper East Regional Youth Organizer in 1994, and Upper East Regional Youth Organizer from 1995 to 1998. Additionally, he served as the TEIN Secretary at the University of Education, Winneba from 1995 to 1997, and has been the longest-serving Upper East Regional Secretary and National Executive Member of the NDC since 1998.
