UE/R: President Mahama nominates longest-serving regional secretary as Regional Minister

President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Mr. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, one of the longest-serving regional secretaries for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region of Ghana, as the designated regional minister.

Mr. Atanga, hailing from Nayorogo, a suburb of the Bongo constituency, has had an impressive career, rising from polling station levels to the constituency level. He has held the position of regional secretary since 1998, marking over 27 years of dedicated service.

In his new role, Mr. Atanga has expressed his commitment to collaborate with his colleague, the North East Regional Minister-designate, Mr. Ibrahim Tia, to ensure lasting peace in Bawku.

In a press statement issued by Jonathan Salifu Abdulalai on behalf of the Upper East Regional Executive Committee of the NDC, led by Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba, the committee congratulated Hon. Akamugri Donatus Atanga on his nomination as Upper East Regional Minister-Designate. They also expressed gratitude to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for appointing him to serve the people of the Upper East Region.
