Constituents from the Zuarungu Moshie electoral area, a suburb of the Bolgatanga East constituency in the Upper East Region of Ghana, have contributed over 10,000 Ghana cedis (GHS 10,000) to support their Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, in filing his nomination forms.
According to the youth from the Zuarungu Moshie, Dubila, and Zimaasa communities, the MP has done tremendously well in terms of development and providing humanitarian support to students in the constituency. This is the reason they have decided to contribute funds to pay for the MP’s filing fees.
The MP had previously provided the communities with electricity poles to be connected to the national grid, responding to the youth’s “no electricity, no vote” campaign ahead of the 2024 December general election.
In appreciation of the MP’s responsiveness to their needs, the youth from the electoral area contributed 10,000 Ghana cedis to pay for the MP’s filing fees. Speaking to the media while handing over the cash to the constituency chairman, Mr. Daniel Apeema, one of the lead contributors, indicated that the MP has been very instrumental in the development of the constituency, and they felt it was important to contribute to support his re-election bid, as the economy is currently very hard and tough.
“We feel that it is important that we contribute so that our daddy goes back to Parliament, for you to go to Parliament if you don’t have filling fees you can’t go to Parliament and things are hard, and because the economic is hard we thought that we can contribute our widow’s might to support this ” Daniel Apeema noted.
The constituency chairman, Mr. Isaac Azure, who received the cash on behalf of the MP, thanked the youth for their kind gesture. He urged the youth not to become complacent but to go out in their numbers and campaign vigorously for the MP to retain the seat in the upcoming 2024 general election.
