The Assemblyman for the Winkogo electoral area in the Talensi District in Ghana’s Upper East Region has told word news that the youth of his area have made numerous calls on him to allow them (the youth) stage a demonstration to drum home their demand for the fixing of unmotorable portions of the Winkogo-Tamale highway.

The bad roads have caused several damages to vehicles plying the roads, sometimes several of these damaged vehicles are left on the road to cause either vehicular traffic or accidents.

Unbearable potholes don’t only bring about distress to road users but also prolong short travels.
A five minutes journey now requires over thirty minutes due to the poor nature of the roads.
In a letter to the regional highways engineer, a worried Edward Azuah Akolgo pleading with authorities to fix what he described as ‘the killer portions’ of the roads. Part of the road within Winkogo is terribly bad. He noted.
For Mr Edward Azuah Akolgo, his people have suffered and are still suffering because of the nature of the roads. Users of the roads and the people of Winkogo lives are always in danger, as several precious lives have been lost, vehicles spoiled and buildings destroyed due to the nature of the Road.
The Assemblyman noted in his letter cited by word news that it was the second time he has written to the regional highways authority in connection with the killer portions of the highway.
Below is the letter to the regional highways authority cited by word news.

Dear Sir,

Part of the Road within Winkogo is terribly bad . The people of have suffered and are still suffering because of the nature of the road. Users of the road and the people of Winkogo lives are always in danger. We have precious lives lost, vehicles spoiled and buildings destroyed due to the nature of the Road.
This is my second time of writing to your office and I made follow ups but no good results yet. Please it is good your office tackles this issue with urgency and alacrity even with any meager resources available at your disposal. It is a highly worrisome and very damning situation. Act swiftly to curtail further atrocities.
Secondly, speed ramps should be constructed at vantage areas especially around Winkogo common market and other parts of the Winkogo -Tongo road.
We look forward to hearing and seeing positive quick response from your outfit.
Thank you.
Yours faithfully.
Hon. Akolgo Azuah Edward.
