GIMS graduates 27males and 1 female after 3months training in heavy duty equipment operation

Global Institute of Mines and Safety (GIMS), a Talensi-based training firm, for the first time held it graduation for 28 youth across the Upper East Region and beyond.

The 28 graduates have undergone various forms of training, engineering practices, handling of heavy-duty equipments to set them apart to be able to get employed in any mining company.

The Talensi District has now become a mining hub and the entire upper upper East region. This, has motivated GIMS to go into training young people with the needed skills.

Global Institute of mines and (GIMS) was founded in 2008 with a main focus on boosting careers and job seeking opportunities for the youth. They equally seek to reduce unemployment and to create an avenue for the youth to have access to internationally certified professional heavy duty equipment operations Ghana.

The number of youth trained purposely for the mining and construction industry comprised 27 males and a female.

The trainees after a three month intensive training will be well fit in Bull Dozers, Excavators, Dumb Trucks, Forklift, Wheel Loaders, Backhoes, Graders, Forklifts, Mobile Cranes operations and General Drilling.

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIMS, Larry Gabriel, Fighting Unemployment In the Upper East Region Through Competency Based Equipment Operator Training and also The Role Of The Stakeholder. The CEO however, made a passionate call on all stakeholders, including chiefs and people in the mining communities and the region at large, to help graduates in every aspect to ensure that they are employed in the mining companies, for the graduates have had all the necessary skills to work.

Larry Gabriel disclosed at the graduation ceremony that his outfit have also trained over 500 youth in Ghana.

“Youth living in the mining communities especially in the Talensi District which is a Ming hub have the desire to work with the mining companies but do not have requisite skills to allow them get employed into this companies”.

“We can not do some of these things without us as people push the mining companies and philanthropists around to sponsor our youth to get skills, this is the best way use to fight unemployment especially Talensi”.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Tindong Hon. Clement Sawaleg Buugu who was the chairman for the graduation ceremony said that two mining companies that were invited for event didn’t show up because they always refuse to employ locals.
He however openly accused one of the mining companies in the Talensi district, called Cardinal Namdini mining company for always disqualifying potential workers from the district and demanded a stop.

“They can continue their injustices against our youth any time they go to them for employment, I also know how the Laboure force is working, but in due time there will be a seek up”
