Binduri: Confirmation of Abdulai Abanga in limbo as disgruntled candidate seeks injunction

A disgruntled member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in Binduri constituency of the Upper East Region, Mr. Alex Avoka Amolebugri who was disqualified by the party’s vetting Committee some weeks ago is asking the Bolgatanga high court to place an interlocutory injunction on the party parliamentary election scheduled for January 27, 2024.

Alex Avoka Amolebugri exclusively told Word News that the three counts that the vetting Committee disqualified him were baseless. The vetting Committee disqualified him on the allegations of forgery of signatures of party members who endorsed him. Alleged forgery of a university certificate and impersonation as one of his names (Azumah) appears missing in his certificates.

Responding to the allegations, Alex Avoka Amolebugri asserted that the constituency chairman and the member Parliament bribed two members of the party with two new motor bikes and an mount of twenty thousand Ghana cedis to falsify against him with respect to the allegations of forgery of signatures.

He indicated that his university upon his request, wrote to the vetting Committee, but they were bent on disqualifying him.

On the missing name on his school certificate, he noted that he has taken due process and corrected same.

Lawyer for the disgruntled candidate, Richard Abaaduko Adaazabra noted that his client has not been fairly handled by the leadership of he party, but he is hopeful the court would reason with him grand their plead to place the interlocutory injunction on the pending election.
