UE/R: Bolgatanga Traditional Council calls for thorough investigation into killing of university deputy registrar

The Bolgatanga Traditional Council has called on the security forces in the Municipality to thoroughly investigate the recent attack on the deputy registrar of the Bolgatanga Technical University, Alhassan Azumah. The deputy registrar was shot death by some unknown assailants on the night of of January 17, 2024.

The insecurity in the Bolgatanga municipality in the wake of the killing of the deputy registrar of the Bolgatanga Technical University, add up to a number of gun attacks recorded in the regional capital. A Garu-Goaso bound bus was attacked few weeks ago.

The Bolgatanga Traditional Council in a statement signed by the acting president of the Traditional Council, Naba Patrick Asaliya condemned the attacks and pleaded with the security forces to thoroughly investigate the mater and bring all the perpetuators of the heinous crime to justice.

“The Council vehemently condemns the audacious attacks occurring in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional Capital, stemming from the Bawku conflict. We call upon the relevant security agencies to promptly launch a thorough investigation, ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice.”

The council also asked citizens to be vigilant and calm as the security forces investigate the matter.

“In the interim, we urge residents and the bereaved family to exhibit restraint and maintain a sense of calm, despite potential provocations by unidentified individuals. It is essential for the public not to seek retaliation against suspected wrongdoers; instead, we encourage the sharing of information with the Ghana
Police Service to aid their investigations.

The Council calls upon law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigative processe This not only assures the community but also serves as a deterrent to those with nefarious intention”
