The Bolgatanga Circuit Court has granted bail to the six ladies charged with conspiracy to commit crime to wit assault and assault to a bail condition of ten thousand Ghana cedis each with a surety.
The six accused; Nsobila Hagai 20, Zuwera Sumaila 17, Isha Ibrahim 18, Musah Fati 18, Kunlan Emmanuella 18 and Joyce Ayamga were captured in a video tape beating a young lady after they accused her of having a romantic affair with a man believed to be a husband of one of them (the suspects).
They pleaded not guilty.
Appearing before his honor, Sumaila Mbache Ahamudu, lawyer for the accused pleaded for mercy for his clients. Mohammed Tahiru Nambe told the court that his clients have shown much remorse and as such have learnt their lessons after spending a week in police cells.
Speaking to the media after court proceedings, Mohammed Nambe indicated that once clients pleaded not guilty to the charges, the case will travel its full course.
“As their lawyer, it is premature for now, what is on record is that they have indicated that they are not guilty, that is more important. Once they are not guilty, the court allow the process to go through until it is proven that they are guilty. Now, the case is not their case, the case is for the prosecution, the prosecution have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that indeed they have actually committed the offence in which they are brought to court”.
They are to reappear on October 23,2023
