Chiana Pio Appeals For Upgrade of Health Centre to Polyclinic

The Paramount Chief of the Chiana Traditional area in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, Pɛ Detundini  Adiali Ayagitam III has appealed to government to upgrade the Chiana Health Centre to Polyclinic.

He said the current Health Centre could not cater for the growing population of the area, and  residents depended on Navrongo, Sandema and in some cases Paga for medical care which posed undue financial burden on them.

“The upgrading of the Chiana Health Centre into a polyclinic is another area of concern to us in the west zone, such a step would ease the burden on people travelling to Navrongo, Sandema or even Paga to seek medical attention,” he said.

Pe Ayagitam III made the appeal at the 12th annual Fao festival of the Chiefs and people of the area on the theme: “Building One Chiana, Strengthening Our Structures For Development and Prosperity.”

The festival offered residents the opportunity to appease the gods for any wrong-doing, and thank them for the protection, good health and peaceful co-existence.
