Kandiaga Chief to launch Golden Jubilee Celebration

Naaba Henry Abawine Amenga-Etego II, the Chief of Kandiga in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region will launch his 50th Golden Jubilee celebration on December 27, 2022.

Naaba Amenga-Etego II succeeded the throne from his late father, Naaba Paul Amenga-Etego II as Chief of the area in 1972 at a tender age of 17years.

As part of activities to mark the celebration, the people of Kandiga prior to the yuletide season, embarked on several activities including clean-up exercises at the market square, and the entire community.

The ground durbar, slated for November 2023, would be held on the theme: “50years of selfless and Charismatic Leadership: Consolidating our Unity and Strengths for Holistic Development.”

The programme would bring together sons and daughters of Kandiga within and outside the country for the collective development of the community, and to vigorously support education and skills training of the youth in the entire Kandiga Traditional Area.

The 50th Golden Jubilee would see the launch of the Naaba Henry Abawine Fund for Social, Educational and Infrastructural Development, the construction of a six-unit classroom block, a community centre and the renovation of the Chief’s Court.

The occasion would also revive the seemingly forgotten annual “Mokeka” harvest festival to deepen the peace and unity among neighbouring towns.
