Women and young ladies who apply body powder or deodorant under their breast have been advised to desist from the practice because it can predispose them to breast cancer.
Speaking on the health segment on the Word Community Watch Show on Word FM in Zuarungu, health personnel from the Bolgatanga East District Health Directorate said several lifestyle habits predisposes women to breast cancer including those who apply powder and deodorant under their breast.
“Putting powder and deodorant under the breast can predispose the breast to breast cancer.” ” some apply power or perfume to their breast to smell good for their men but it is not good”
The health personnel also added that women can contract breast cancer through hereditary, obesity, old age, menopause, unhygienic living, high alcohol intake, and women who go through post menopausal homone therapy are all likely to contract breast cancer.
Women who frequently take in birth control pills have also been advised to manage their pills intake since it can predispose them to breast cancer.
Explaining why using powder or deodorant under the breast can predispose the breast to cancer, the health personnel said “the chemicals in the deodorant or powder are harmful to the breast cells and can cause the breast to grow disproportionately or abnormal “
The health personnel were Alberta, Rebecca and Millicent, all from the Bolgatanga East District Health Directorate.
