Atulbabiisi Community located in the heart of the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region have been crowned champions of this year’s Eld adha Top 8 (Ramadan Soccer Fiesta) sponsored by Nana Kush Sticky (God bless America Family). They beat Majeema on penalties 3-2 after a goalless draw in open play. This is the first time they have won a trophy in the Ramadan Soccer Fiesta being it eld al-fitr or eld adha competition.
They were awarded, a set of Jersey which they used for the final, a trophy for keep and a cash prize of GhC 500.00 and Majeema being the second placed community also took, a set of Jersey they also used for the final and a cash prize of GhC 300.00.
The 8 communities had their qualification when they qualified to the quarter finals of the Eld al-fitr. The number increased from 4 in the previous years to 8 this year, because of increment in the number of communities in the Eid al-fitr Soccer Fiesta (Ramadan Soccer Fiesta) from 16 in the previous years to 24 this year. This is the first time an individual is sponsoring Eld adha soccer gala.
Nana Kush Sticky ( God bless America Family) in a short message said, he is over warmed with they good football displayed by the two communities and the attendance of fans. He mentioned that it will be big next year.
In attendance for the closing ceremony were the Upper East Regional Football Association’s Chairman, the Deputy Upper East Regional Chief Imam and a famous Ghanaian musician, Tinny who charged the crowd to end soccer fiesta.
The Upper East Regional Football Association’s Chairman, Mr. Salifu Shaibu Zida thanked the main sponsor Nana Kush and called on individuals and companies to come on board to support sports in the region.
Organizers will get a team to represent the region for a National Top 4 in some months to come, which comprises of Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Upper East Region.
