Details have emerged concerning the actual events and the circumstances under which a couple died through electrocution in Kongo, a community in the Nabdam District .
The news of the electrocution of a man and his wife Mr. Joseph Banike and Mrs. Mary Banike, in Kongo was published in some media platforms with many readers expressing shock at the sad event. Some couldn’t come to terms with some narrations with regards to what actually happened.
However, details gathered by our outfit from a relation of the couple has explained the circumstance under which the couple lost their lives.
The relative revealed that the Couple live in an extended house with their separate yard that previously had no electricity. The man, Mr. Joseph Banike therefore got an electrician to connect a wire from a separate yard to their yard directly without any switch so they can also use electricity.
He said ” a part of the wire in their veranda was exposed without the knowledge of the couple and when Mrs. Mary Banike returned from the borehole with water, the basin touched the wire and it electrocuted her instantly and the wire fell on her.”
“Mr. Joseph Banike not aware of the nature of the accident, rushed to save his wife and got electrocuted in the process too because the whole area was electrically charged.”
Our informer has dispelled reports that the couple were electrocuted because they used an electricity wire as a dry line.
