Agenda 111 Begins in Bolga East District, Contractor clears land for construction.

Government has begun the construction of a district hospital under the agenda 111 at Katanaga in the Bolga East district of the Upper East Regio. The district assembly handed over the site for the construction of the facility in December, 2021.

A visit to the site by the news team of Word Fm saw that the constructor has cleared the land off trees and shrubs and demarcated the area ready to start work. A signboard showing the design of the facility and the name of the contractor has also been mounted at the site.

The Bolga East District hospital forms part of the 88 district hospitals to be constructed in districts without hospitals in Ghana. The Agenda 111 project includes 101 district hospitals to be constructed across Ghana, two specialize hospitals in the northern and middle belts of Ghana, six regional hospitals in the six newly created regions and one in the Western region plus the renovation of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

The health facility when completed, would render services including: Outpatient services, including surgical cases, Ophthalmology, dental and physiotherapy and imaging services.

The facility would also have a staff accommodation for medical doctors, nurses and other health workers.

The hospital would be financed with funds from the Ghana Investment Infrastructure Fund (GIIF) at the cost of USS$17 Million.

The contractor is expected to complete the facility in 12 months from the start date on a more than 15 acres of land that was given free to government by the Katan-daana and his people.
