The butchers at the Bolgatanga slaughter house at Sawaba will relocate to the new and ultramodern butchers house located at Yorogo on the Bolga- Bongo Road of the Upper East Region on Tuesday 18th January, 2022.

This was disclosed by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Rex Simeon Atariyela Asanga, on the Word Community Watch Show on Monday 17th January, 2022. The MCE in response to the question of the exact date for the relocation of the butchers to the new facility by the host, Mr. Simon Agana, said the butchers will move to the facility tomorrow 18th January,2022.

“They will move to the new facility tomorrow 18th January,2022. That is the final date and they will move. We will not entertain any excuses again.”

Hon. Rex Asanga said the Assembly has given the butchers enough audience but it seems they just want to play tricks with the assembly but that would not be entertained again.

“We scheduled to meet their leaders to finalise their movement last week but they failed to honour the meeting at the Assembly though they had earlier agreed to attend. They later asked the Assembly to meet the youth of the place but we have decided that we will not meet any group because it is the leaders that we have dealt with all this while. So we have decided that they will move tomorrow and that is final.”

The Assembly as part of a decongestion exercise at the Bolgatanaga business district had earlier agreed with the leadership of the butchers to have them relocate to the new slaughter house on 15th December,2021. The butchers however later appealed to the Assembly to extend their stay till the end of December but have since failed to relocate to the new facility on the 1st January, 2022 date.

The Bolgatanaga Muniucipal Decongession task force have meanwhile successfully relocated the grain sellers from the new market to the old Techiman station after initial stiff resistance from the grain sellers including refusing to sell for three market days.
