Let’s Start the Debate in front of your ow house”— DCE dares MPdebate

The Bongo District Chief Executive (DCE), Peter Ayimbisa, has challenged the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bongo, Edward Bawa, to face him in any infrastructure debate.

Speaking to supporters of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the launch of the party’s constituency campaign team in Bongo, the DCE jabbed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for “doing little” in terms of development for the people over the 8 years the NDC spent in office between 2009 and 2017.

He said the MP for the area had failed his own backyard neighbours because he (the DCE) drilled a borehole and fixed the road which the MP “uses” to his house.

“The NDC wants us to bring our record for debate. I want to serve a notice that I’m ready any time, any day and anyhow. If the MP wants, we can stage the debate in front of his house and I’m going to floor him for the first time,” the DCE said.

Mr. Ayinbisa added that the NPP government has within three and a half years in government performed better than the NDC which spent eight years in power.

“I’m happy to report to you that in terms of development we have performed far, far better than the NDC. Let me take you sector by sector. In education over their last eight years, the NDC built less than eight schools in the district and less than three years we have built six ultra-modern schools. We have produced and procured 2,500 dual desk across the district, free school uniforms, built teachers quarters in Adaboya, builta multipurpose dormitory block which is about 80% complete in Bongo SHS. In health in their eight years they built six CHPS and within three and half years we have contributed five CHPS,” he stated.

The DCE further claimed the NDC had no record to show going to the 2020 polls but said the “unprecedented infrastructure development sprinkled over the constituency” would boost the NPP’s chances at the general elections. He also said the government had drilled 93 boreholes as well as six limited mechanised boreholes, adding that former NDC DCEs, namely Alexis Ayamdor and Clement Akugre Atiah, provided only 70 boreholes throughout their 8 years combined.

“I am serving notice to the Member of Parliament that where he is sitting he doesn’t deserve that place. He must begin to pack and allow Alambota Ayinbisa to occupy that seat,” he said.
