Bongo Balungo Namoo Road will be fixed within six weeks- contractor assures residents.

One of the much-talked about road aside the famous Bolgatanga-Bawku-Pulmakom road in the Upper East Region is the Bongo-Balungu-Namoo stretch of road in the Bongo District. A visit to the ongoing construction of the Bongo-Balungu-Namoo bridge by Word FM NEWS confirmed that the contractor working on the aforementioned project is back to site. Work on the construction of the bridge started after President Akuffo Addo cut the sod for the commencement of work in July 2018 but the work stalled due to financial constraints.  Speaking to WORD NEWS, the engineer of the Project,

Mr Bashiru Musah, said work on the road stalled due to financial constraints but was quick to add that government has released some money, hence the need for them to get back to site and fix the unmotorable road within six weeks. He said his outfit will need maximum cooperation from opinion leaders and for that matter the residents in the area for the work to be done within the stipulated time. He however hinted that government is considering to tar Bongo-Balungu-Namoo stretch of road to ease the movements of commuters and drivers. In an interview with WORD NEWS, the Bongo District Chief Executive, Mr Peter Ayinbisah Ayamga, expressed joy over the continuation of the project. He said some residents and even people outside the district have over the years used unprinted words against him and his government for their inability to fix the road on time. He described the measures put in place by the government to bring the contractor back to site as timely and huge sigh of relief to him and residents in the area. Mr.

Ayinbisa revealed that his outfit in collaboration with the traditional leaders have supported contractor with a good gravel site to enable him complete the work within schedule. He appealed to residents in the area to cooperate with the contractor to work on Bongo Balungo Namoo stretch of road since the Assembly cannot continue to loose revenue again due to the bad nature of road. He hinted that the same contractor will move to work on Nyariga-Zorko-Ayone road after the construction of the Bongo Balungo Namoo stretch of road is completed.
