
The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the murder of 30-year-old tricycle rider, Akolbila Blessing, at Dulugu-Zuarungu, a suburb of the Bolgatanga East District in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
The police press statement issued by the Regional Police Commander on 31 August 2026 states that the arrests followed the beating of the victim by the suspects on 27 August 2026. The arrest was carried out on Sunday, 30 August 2026.

The suspects have been identified as,Avandiba Atubiga Kante (26), Atua Atombire Mpika (40), owner of the tricycle known as Mahama Camboo, Amale Nyaaba Nicholas (30),Atua Ayinbotima (22),Atuah Nsobila Prosper (21),Ayine Albert Sunday (39) Police preliminary investigations indicate that on 27 August 2026, the victim, Akolbila Blessing, allegedly failed to make sales to the tricycle owner, Mpika.
After this, he was attacked and beaten by the six suspects.The victim was found unconscious in his room the following day and was taken to Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The press statement further indicates that the six suspects are in police custody to assist with investigations.
They are expected to be arraigned before the District Magistrate Court in Bolgatanga on Tuesday, 1 September 2026.
The Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP John Ferguson Dzineku, cautioned the public against resorting to violence in resolving disputes and assured them that the police will enforce the law to the letter.
