Dr. Nadia Adongo Fynn, former Deputy Director of the Diaspora Affairs Office and founder of the Ntuune Pogyua Foundation, has donated medical supplies to Gambigo, Dachio and Kumbosigo health centres in Bolgatanga East following her miraculous survival of a serious road accident.
The crash occurred on December 24, 2025, while Dr. Nadia was returning from Accra to spend Christmas with elderly members of her community. A vehicle struck her car near Karimenga on the Bolgatanga–Tamale highway. After recovering, she held a thanksgiving service at St. John Catholic Church in Gambigo to express gratitude for surviving the incident.
As part of the thanksgiving, and in keeping with her annual end-of-year medical outreach, Dr. Nadia provided a packed lunch for elderly women in the community and presented a donation of medical supplies that she had originally intended to use for her routine medical screening on December 24, 2025 ,because the annual screening could not take place on that date, she decided to present the supplies to local health facilities instead.Dr. Nadia donated the following supplies across Gambigo, Dachio and Kumbosigo health centres,75 pink cannula,75 blue cannulas (singles),500 HIV test kits (singles),80 syringes ,400 catheters ,3 gallons of distilled water for oxygen use ,4 cord clamps for neonates, and 10 infusion sets (singles).
Speaking to Word News, Dr. Nadia said these were items she had planned to use for her annual medical screening and that she regularly donates supplies to health centre and clinics as part of her outreach. “These were items I had set aside for the screening,” she said.
“As I returned home for the thanksgiving service, it felt right to present them to the health facilities as part of my year-end donation.”Dr. Nadia also expressed gratitude to the Gambigo Health Centre for the citation they presented to her. She said she considers it her duty to support her home community and to help ensure local health workers have the supplies they need to serve residents.
Mr. John Yelko-ang, the medical physician in charge of Gambigo Health Centre, thanked Dr. Nadia for her continued support. He said the donation will significantly bolster maternal and child health services at the facility.“These items will go a long way to support maternal and child health,” Mr. Yelko-ang said. “We now have cannulas, catheters, distilled water and HIV test kits. It’s often difficult to access some of these supplies from medical stores, so this donation is timely. It will help mothers who present in labour and improve the quality of care we provide.”
He added that when clinic stores run out, families sometimes must travel to buy supplies from private pharmacies, which can delay emergency treatment. The recent donation, he said, will help avoid those situations and ensure more timely care for patients in the Gambigo community and the entire Bolgatanga East District.
