Nab Kobil-song Namal Dug’rib has been installed as the new Tolla-Raan in Tolla, a suburb of the Talensi District in the Upper East Region of Ghana, by the Nayiri, the overlord of the Mamprugu kingdom, on June 8, 2025.
The Mamprugu Kingdom is a traditional state in northern Ghana, with historical roots tracing back to the 13th century, founded by Naa Gbewaa. This kingdom, known as the land of the Mamprusi people, is considered one of the oldest in what is now Ghana. The ruler, the Nayiri, holds both spiritual and administrative authority.
Nab Kobil-song Namal Dug’rib, known in private life as Vaad Hamza, also serves as the treasurer of the Small Scale Miners Association and the National Democratic Congress constituency organizer for the party in the Upper East region of Ghana.
As Tolla-Raan, he joins the ranks of other chiefs traditionally installed by the Nayiri, including the Namol Naab.
Nab Kobil-song Namal Dug’rib aims to unite his people for peace and development.
