Mr. Roland Atanga Ayoo, the newly appointed 8th Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bolgatanga, was overwhelmingly endorsed by 100% of the 38 assembly members of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly.

Expressing his gratitude for the unanimous support, Mr. Ayoo pledged to collaborate with all assembly members to bridge developmental gaps. His primary goal as MCE is to elevate Bolgatanga to metropolitan status.
Mr. Ayoo assured the people of the municipality that he would focus on balanced development across all sectors of the economy. He aims to ensure that Bolgatanga attains metropolitan status in the near future. He emphasized the importance of working closely with assembly members to identify and tackle key challenges affecting the municipality’s development, particularly in areas that could facilitate its upgrade to metropolitan status. These include addressing sanitation issues, multidimensional poverty, environmental degradation, unemployment, and infrastructure deficiencies.

“To my people in the municipality, I will ensure balanced development in all sectors of the economy, with the ultimate aim of achieving metropolitan status in the not-too-distant future,” he stated.
Mr. Ayoo committed to fulfilling his mandate for the collective good of the municipality, emphasizing his dedication to humility and seeking support from all residents to advance the interests of Bolgatanga and its surrounding areas. He remarked that the overwhelming endorsement reflects a desire to strengthen bonds, rise above political bickering, and unite in consensus to move the municipality forward.
He also expressed a commitment to restoring Bolgatanga to its former reputation as a “heaven of peace.” Success in this new challenge, he noted, will depend largely on the contributions of the municipality’s residents. To this end, he pledged to maintain an open-door policy, welcoming everyone—regardless of political affiliation—to share ideas and actively participate in the municipal development agenda.
“I know the stakes are high, and that the people of Bolgatanga have great expectations. They want to see meaningful and swift changes, not gradual ones. I promise that we will see marked improvements in the infrastructure across Bolgatanga. This is a promise I intend to keep, with the backing of all residents and the support of traditional leaders, including chiefs and Tindamas,” he stated
