Mr Jacob Atule Adongo deputy CEO National Youth Authority.

Mr. Jacob Atule Adongo, the Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority, has announced to Word News that he will embark on a nationwide tour starting from the Northern and Upper East Regions of Ghana. This initiative aims to assess the status of facilities for persons with disabilities, enabling better planning to support and improve their lives.

“I’ll be coming down sometime next week. I will start my tour in the Upper East Region and then move to the Northern Region to evaluate our facilities in the country. We want to determine how we can retool them to meet our goals. We will engage with stakeholders to understand their needs and explore ways to create entrepreneurial opportunities for persons with disabilities, fostering sustainable livelihoods so they no longer live hand to mouth or at the mercy of others,” he noted.

According to Mr. Adongo, the tour will also focus on identifying the specific needs of persons with disabilities and forging new paths by collaborating with entrepreneurs to provide sustainable livelihood support. This effort aims to reduce the unemployment rate among persons with disabilities, who often find themselves begging on the streets.

He emphasized that his appointment as Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority serves as a clear example that disability is not inability. He encourages his fellow individuals with disabilities to seize opportunities for personal growth and development.

Additionally, Mr. Adongo urged persons with disabilities to consider entering politics. He appealed to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to appoint individuals with disabilities to significant positions, such as cabinet ministers and MMDCES, to fulfill the promise of five percent representation.
