The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Talensi constituency in the Upper East Region of Ghana, Robert Ayinenaba Alibo, has stated that his victory in the upcoming general election will surprise his opponents, who are unaware of the NPP’s campaign strategy and the aspirations of the youth. He criticized them for claiming that his party lacks unity.
Mr. Alibo addressed a large gathering of youth in Winkogo, where they organized a health walk to rally support for his candidacy in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. The participants, who turned out in significant numbers, walked approximately 15 kilometers, starting from the Winkogo barrier and passing through Dapoore, Laabisi, Asimbiisi, and Goriko, before returning to the main Bolgatanga-Tamale highway and concluding at the district capital, Tongo.
The youth were energetic, drumming and dancing to various types of music, and they displayed placards with slogans such as “Alibo, the Youth Choice,” “Alibo Won’t Dodge the Media,” and “Change is Coming.”
Mr. Alibo expressed confidence in his victory, stating that it has been endorsed by God. He emphasized that his opponents would be shocked by the outcome. He further asserted that he would make a significant impact as a Member of Parliament if elected, particularly if Dr. Mahmudu Bawumia wins the presidency. With his extensive experience working with various non-governmental organizations, he believes he would be well-positioned for a ministerial role.
He urged the youth of the constituency to extend their support to friends and family, aiming for a resounding victory over Daniel Dung Mahama. He expressed his desire for a margin so wide that his opponent would hesitate to call for a recount, fearing the overwhelming support for his campaign.
Mr. Alibo noted that the strong turnout of youth at the health walk gives him hope for winning the Talensi seat, as the youth voter population represents over 35% of the total electorate in the constituency. He believes that their enthusiastic participation signals a shift that has begun to instill fear in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate.
