The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Aseidu Nketia, has claimed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has created a special budget aimed at removing prominent Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Upper East Region, including those from his own constituency and the running mate of Prof. Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang.

In a community engagement held in Dachio, a suburb of the Bolgatanga East constituency, Aseidu Nketia alleged that the NPP is funneling money into specific constituencies to ensure that certain MPs lose their seats. He warned party faithful to remain vigilant and not succumb to the temptation of the large sums of money that may be distributed in these areas.

He identified targeted constituencies such as Bolgatanga East, Bolgatanga Central, and Bawku Central as key areas where the NPP aims to weaken the next John Dramani Mahama regime. “They know they are not winning but they want certain individuals, quality members of Parliament out of Parliament and so they have created a budget; unfortunately for us some of our best MPs are from your region and because of that they have a special budget targeted at Hon. Dominic Ayine, they have a special budget targeted at Hon. Ayariga, they have a special budget targeted at Bolga Adams Smith (Hon. Isaac Adongo).”

Aseidu Nketia expressed concern that the NPP’s strategy is to demoralize NDC supporters by announcing losses for key party members on election day. “If they heard an announcement that Dominic Ayine has lost his constituency and then more NDC people will be demoralized, if they heard an announcement that Isaac Adongo has lost his seat they know NDC will be demoralized or Ayariga has lost his constituency NDC will be demoralized and it will be worse when they hear that even the national chairman has been lost,” he lamented.
He emphasized that the NPP has carefully targeted specific NDC parliamentary seats with significant financial resources to influence voters and orchestrate confusion, suggesting that the NPP has no genuine intention to win the general election but rather to manipulate the outcome.
