Mr Silas Matthew Amoah, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Bolgatanga East Constituency, has presented 36 sewing machines to graduate seamstresses in the Constituency.
The gesture was to enable them set up their own shops and also train other young ladies in the area.
The donation was in fulfilment of a promise Mr Amoah made on Word FM to support youth in the area who were engaged in skills training.
Mr Abubakar Ayimbila Ateerah, the Communications Officer of the NPP in the Constituency, who presented the machines on behalf of Mr Amoah, said the PC started his philanthropic works in his community before mainstream politics.
He said it was Mr Amoah’s believe that mainstream politics would enable him extend his philanthropic works to more Constituents, especially the teeming unemployed youth.
Describing the PC as a down-to-earth Politician, the Communications Officer hinted that his next support would be to the weavers, hairdressers, mechanics among others in the Constituency.
In an interview with Word News, a beneficiary, Madam Elizabeth Abugre after receiving a sewing machine, thanked the PC for the gesture and said the machine would be used for the intended purpose.
