UE/R: Chiefs and People of Sirigu to demonstrate Over the deadly collapsed bridge

The chiefs and people of Sirigu in the Kasena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region have indicated their intention to embark on a vigorous democratic civil demonstration to demand government commitment to fix a collapsed bridge which nearly claimed the lives of two young men recently in the area.
Reports indicates that one Adongo Ayimbire and another, Asaah nearly lost their lives at the collapsed bridge recently. They escaped death, but are currently nursing injuries at the Bolgatanga Regional hospital.

Many others have suffered similar injuries at same spot.

Over of the young men who escaped narrowly on the deadly collapsed bridge battle with his leg.

According to the paramount chief of the Sirigu traditional area, the youth are ready to demonstrate to register their displeasure over the live-threatening nature of the collapsed bridge that links the area to Bongo and Bolgatanga.

Naba Roland Atogumdeya Akwara III disclosed that he has been to Mr Kwasi Amoako Atta, the Minister of Roads and Transport and some delegation of engineers were sent to Sirigu to inspect the bridge, but he has not gotten any information from the ministry regarding when the bridge will be awarded to a contractor.

Naba Atogumdeya expressed his displeasure considering how long the bridge have been left uncompleted.

Mr. Samuel Atanga, one of the focal opinion leaders of the youth has made numerous appeals to government to fix the bridge.
