The New Patriotic Party (NPP) opened nominations for prospective parliamentary aspirants who desire to contest the 2024 parliamentary elections on the ticket of the party to pick forms and contest the upcoming parliamentary primaries on the 11th July, 2023.
After more than a week since the opening of nominations across the country, twenty two aspirants have so far picked forms to contest the primaries slated for 10th August, 2023 across the Upper East Region.
The Regional Communication Director of the NPP , Mr. Peter Ayimbisa, disclosed this to Mr. Simon Agana on the Thursday edition of the Word Community Watch on Word FM in a telephone interview.
He added that there are one or two people who have picked forms in all the constituencies except three constituencies: Bongo, Nabdam and Builsa North where no one has as at 20th July, 2023 picked forms yet.
Notable aspirants who have picked forms so far include: The Upper East Regional Secretary of the party, Mr. Elvis Awonekai for Bolgatanga Central, Hon. Kpemka for Timpane, the MEC for Kasena Nankana East, Hon. Joseph Adongo, Madam Gabriela for Bawku Central, the DCE for Talensi, Hon. Dounab Wuni, the CEO of Ghana Buffer Stock Company, Hon Wahab Hannan, among others.
Before the close of nominations on 10th of August, 2023, it is expected that more aspirants will pick forms in some of the constituencies, especially in the three constituencies where no candidate has emerged yet to contest the primaries.
