Our Education Mean a Lot to Us: Dismissed Chiana SHS Students Weep and Beg Akuffo Addo for Forgiveness and Reinstatement.

The Eight dismissed studenst of the Chiana Senior High School in the Kasena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region have pleaded with the President of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo to forgive them for their unsavoury comments they made in a video about him few months ago that went viral on social media.

The studenst, eight of them in a new video, pleaded with the president to forgive them for the insults heaped at him and allow them back to school after they were served with dismissal letters from the Director General of the Ghana Education Service.

” I am Mariam and I and my colleagues are on our knees begging our President, the Headmaster, Education Office and our fellow Ghanaians. We are sorry for our video that went viral, we didn’t mean for it to go Viral. It was a childish play. We are sorry and we are on our knees. Our education mean a lot to us. We are on our knees and we beg that the president should call us back. We also appeal to our teachers to join us to appeal to the president to call us back.”

Another Student, Ndaabil Janet, who was in tears amd on her knees said she is sorry for what they did I the video. “My name is Janet. I am here to say sorry to the president for what we last did in the video. I did mean what i said.”

The Ghana Education Service in a letter dated 29th November, 2022 which was handed to parents of the eight students on 11th January, 2023, dismissed the students from the school and asked them to return all school properties to the school to serve as a deterrent to other students.

“The Ghana Education Service has given approval for the dismissal of (Name withheld) with immediate effect to serve as a deterrent to other students. “

The letter in part read that their dismissal is as a result of their involvement in making derogatory comments in a video that went viral which is considered undesirable of and contrary to the acceptable standards of conduct required of any student.

The students are praying and hoping that the president will hear their cry and give them a second chance to go back to school to pursue their educational dreams.
