Prolific rapper and education administrator,Ras Wormz has been presented with a Citation of honour by the Upper East Regional Education Directorate on Tuesday in the regional capital Bolgatanga.
Born as Asampana Michael Abembila and known in music cycles as Ras Wormz works as an administrator at the Bongo District Education Directorate who’s contribution to educational development in the Bongo District has become widely appreciated.
In a brief ceremony at Bolgatanga, the Regional Education Director, Mr. Edward K. Azure presented an honorary citation on behalf of the management of the Ghana Education Services(GES), Upper East Region to Ras Wormz as a way of motivating the songwriter cum administrator to continue the good work that he is doing.
In 2020 Ras Wormz emerged national First runner up in the Ghana Teacher Prize, non teaching category in the national capital, Accra. This came as surprise to many who knew him only as an entertainer but for those who knew him as an education Administrator is was the ” ice on the cake” as he received several congratulatory messages from his fans and the general public and now a Citation for the Regional Education Directorate.
Portions of citation as cited by Word News reads;” the regional education directorate recognizes your stellar performance at the 2020 Ghana teacher prize where you emerged first runner-up in the non-teacher category which ultimate projected the image of the region”.
The Regional Director of Education Upper East who conferred the Citation of honour on Ras Wormz chronicled the events and activities that culminated to the conferment of the prestigeous Citation of honour on Ras Wormz.
He highlighted the musician’s philanthropic works, his Stellar performance at the National level and the use of positive lyrics to influence social change as some of the reasons for the Awards and then the Citation.
“your use of positive musical lyric to influence social change coupled with your philanthropic work puts you on a certain pedestal as a beacon of hope for both the old and the young across the Upper East Region”
The multiple awards winner, Ras Wormz thanked the regional director for the honour done him. He assured him and the Region of his readiness to continue putting the Upper East Region and the northern territory on map.
