Bongo: Notorious Armed Robber Lynched

A notorious armed robber has been lynched at Burigo, a suburb of the Bongo District in the Upper East Region.

An eyewitness told Word news that the said alleged armed robber, Mr. Robert Asanɛ who is popularly known as Double is believed to have been terrorizing the people of Bongo for some decades now.

They indicated that luck eluded him when he stole three goats and a sheep on the night of Tuesday 22nd of March 2022 at Burigo along the Bongo-Soe road and was planning to transport the animals to a butcher in the Bolgatanga Municipality.
Word news has gathered that the 40-year-old notorious armed robber is operating a drinking spot in the bush where most of his colleagues usually meet to carry out their criminal acts within the Bongo District and region at large.

Most residents who couldn’t believe that the said notorious armed robber has been Lynched were seen rushing to to the scene to Confirm the news, for them, Asaani has survived a number of lynching attempts carry out on him years ago in Namoo.

In 2014, Asanɛ narrowly escape another lynching and escaped to Burkina Faso. This led police to arrest many people in Soe and Ayelbia community in the Bongo district.

Most of the residents who were  jubilating over the death of the notorious armed robber told Word news that they have finally gotten their freedom because he has been stealing from them.
“look, he has build a very big house in the community, but he has never molded a single block, but he has been going round conveying peoples blocks on the street.”

The Bongo district police command has picked his remains to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy
