UER/Chiana chief wants killer road fixed.

The paramount chief of the Chiana Traditional area – PE Detundini  Adiali  Ayagitam III has placed an urgent plea with government to fix the deplorable Chuchuliga-Chiana-Tumu road. Speaking at this year’s FAO festival of the chiefs and people of Chiana in the Kasena Nankana west district of the Upper East Region, PE Ayagitam bemoaned the trauma that road users go through as a result of the deteriorating state of the road. “the rehabilitation of the Chuchuliga-Tumu road is of paramount importance to us. The road is currently in a deplorable state and needs urgent attention, we cannot as a people look on, while this major road continues to deteriorate. Urgent repairs must be initiated to save the road from further deterioration”.

Residents of the Chiana area now resort to the public tricycle”motor king”

The fast deteriorating state of the road is said to have chased commercial transport operators out of business as residents’ resort to the patronage of tricycles. Travelers are usually stranded as thieves frequently rob them as a result of the unmotorable nature of the rod. Beside the dust, the road is full of potholes

Mrs. Caroline Aluah, a teacher at the Kalvio DA Primary School disclosed to www.mywordfmonline.com that she nearly had a miscarriage on the road as a result of the bumpy nature of the road “ I had an accident twice in December 2021, so they should try and do something about it. it’s disturbing, the road is just a problem for us. we cannot move freely, we are pleading with the authorities to come to our aid. I was lucky I survived a miscarriage; other pregnant women are not lucky like me.  people had miscarriages due to the road, because of the road and recent fuel hikes, most cars don’t use the road, they don’t want to come because of their car maintenance, whenever they ply the road, they have to go use their money to buy spare parts, so because of that they don’t want go and people have no option than to use the motor-king which is not safe”. she fumed

Adding her voice, Mrs. Wematu Abajoori stated that the road in its current state is affecting businesses, education, farming as well as health delivery in the area. “it’s affecting business women, farmers, pregnant women and school children. cars owners don’t agree to pick your goods or if you are pregnant and you are going for routine antenatal care, you can get premature birth or you can get miscarriage, so we are pleading with the government to fix the road for us”.

Some residents attributed the rampant armed robberies on the road to the unfriendly state of the road.
