UER/: Go African, patronize our products – beads makers.

Mrs. Vida Caroline Kurugu revealed that beads are beautiful, less expensive and as such portrays the real African identity.

Management of Bolgatanga Beads makers Association [BCARE] in the Upper East Region has called on Ghanaians and people of the region in particular to patronize their homemade beads products. They noted that their brand properly matches locally adorn handmade smocks known as Fugu.

 Known in the beads industry as Mama Caro, she noted that “beads are actually beautiful. you can see me in my smock dressed with my beads to match. its portraits real African and know now that we are advocating that we should use our own things, so instead of a gold chain which is very expensive and then you can just have beads to match with what you wear and fortunately these days we have promoted our local attires such that it has gone International and because of that our beads are also going International”.

Manager of the Mama Caro beads revealed at a fourth graduation ceremony that over 40 apprentices have so far graduated “Mama Caro Beads started 11 years ago when I graduated from the polytechnic with an HND in marketing, I decided to learn a trade and then get into business. this is how come I joined the trade, I joined beads making and I established ‘Mama Caro beads’ and then five years later, the owner of UD beads, Mrs. Ursula Akurugu came and joined and we decided to formed this association. This is our fourth graduation and each graduation, we don’t graduate less than 10 students and it has been progressing over the years”.

she added that unlike other professions where much money and time is needed in the training process, beads making training is not costly and time consuming.

Azure Beatrice, one of the graduates who is also a professional teacher told word news that it took her 12 months to learn the beads making and noted that the new skills is to going add extra income towards the upkeep of her children as well as beautifying her family.

Fuseina Ayinpoka Ibrahim also told word news that beads making is very lucrative and as she is graduating, she is planning to establish herself to be able to cater for her needs as well as her family.
