NABDAM: NPP’s Infrastructure Tracker Tracking Ghost And Mud Projects As Achievements— NDC

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nabdam Constituency has challenged the infrastructure tracker of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as a tracker for ghost projects and mud structures.

Addressing the media at a press conference in Nangodi of the Nabdam District, the NDC’s Communications Officer for the Nabdam Constituency, James Tenga, said the NPP’s tracker is “replete with falsehoods, complete deceptions, fabrications and distortions of facts.”

The challenge comes after the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, touted government’s achievements using the NPP’s development tracker.

Mr. James Tinga said the infrastructure trucker that was touted by the Vice president contains falsehood and chronic lies. Mr. James said the government has not put up any Emergency Ward at Nangodi as is contained in the tracker.

“The NPP and Bawumia infrastructure tracker has in it several other chronic serial lies by the Vice President. The NPP’s so-called infrastructure tracker has reported that it has put up an Emergency Ward at Nangodi. It is trite knowledge that, our Vice President has been smart in broad-day IT and data robbery, and that has been transmitted to his visionless followers in the name of party members in the Nabdam constituency, but this time round luck has eluded them.”

“You cannot cheat all the people all the time. Is it a different Emergency Ward or the one we all know was built by our Hon. MP and commissioned by him? Interestingly, not even a representative from the Assembly structure let alone government appointee (DCE) attended the commissioning ceremony, even though they were invited,”

Giving more details to buttress the claim of the NDC, Mr. Tinga said the Emergency ward was constructed and commissioned by Dr. Mark Nawani, the MP for Nabdam at a cost of GHc230,000.00 from his share of the MP common fund.

“For the purpose of the records, we wish to state unequivocally and without mincing words that the Emergency Ward at Nangodi was put up by the Honourable MP for Nabdam (Hon. Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane) in 2017 with an amount of GHc230,000.00 (Two Hundred and Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis)”,

Speaking to the media on the same platform the Member of Parliament for the Nabdam constituency, Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane, said the NPP government has deployed all tactics to cease his projects to make him unpopular but the plot against him would not work.

Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane said, the ten-bed emergency ward at the Nangodi Health Centre was built from his portion of the Common Fund hence government had no basis to claim credit for the facility.

“With this GHS135 billion that they have borrowed and added to the country’s debt stock, they can’t account for a single health structure within the four years they have been in office. And when the Member of Parliament who represents NDC and who the country pays about GHS200,000 a year builds a hospital to help him in his campaign, you are seizing the project and adding it to yours on grounds that you gave him the money. It is not you who gave the money, it is the law and the constitution that shared the money and gave me that amount of money. And no matter how small it is, I am grateful that such an amount has been given to me and I am the spending officer and will account for it,”

Dr Mark Kurt Nawaane again accused the government of stealing a community initiated mud teacher accommodation structure for teachers by the Gane-Asonge community and adding to the tracker as its achievements.

Speaking exclusively on Word Community-Watch Show, the former MP and current parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the Nabdam Constituency, Boniface Gambila, opposed Dr Nawaane’s claims, saying the money used in constructing the emergency ward did not belong to the MP.

He added that commissioning a project does not make the commissioner of the project the owner of the project. He said the fact he (Mr Gambila) commissioned the National Investment Bank (NIB) branch in Bolgatanga with name written boldly on the building does not make him the owner of that facility.
