Mr John Abaah, popularly known as Abelintarike Baa-Duko, the newly elected Constituency Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nabdam Constituency of the Upper East Region, has declared his determination to become the best Youth Organiser the constituency has ever had.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Word FM following his decisive victory, Mr Abaah said his experience and knowledge of the party’s structures, from the polling station level to the constituency level, had prepared him adequately for the position.Mr Abaah secured 31 out of 54 valid votes, representing 57.41 per cent of the total valid votes cast, with two rejected ballots, to emerge victorious in a keenly contested election held on October 24, 2026.
Speaking shortly after his election, an elated Mr Abaah expressed excitement, describing the victory as a remarkable milestone in his political journey.”This is my first political contest, and I can’t describe the level of my happiness,” he said.He attributed his victory, first and foremost, to God Almighty, as well as to his family members and political godfathers, whom he said stood firmly behind him throughout the campaign.

The journey to becoming the Constituency Youth Organiser was, however, not without challenges. Before contesting for the constituency-level position,
Mr Abaah had initially intended to contest for the position of Polling Station Chairman. However, the contest would have placed him against a close family member, creating tension within the family.
Demonstrating maturity and respect for family unity, he decided to withdraw from the polling station race and instead set his sights on the higher position of Constituency Youth Organiser.”That confusion that happened during my polling station contest has been resolved before we went for the constituency-level elections. It was a family issue, and we solved it as a family. They are among those who supported me to win. So, there is no problem or confusion with anyone,” he emphasised.

Mr Abaah also credited his campaign strategy and political guidance to his political godfather, Mr Thomas Moort, whom he described as his mentor and guide.Outlining his vision for the youth and the entire Nabdam Constituency,
Mr Abaah, popularly known as Abelintarike Baa-Duko, said he was determined to leave a lasting legacy and be remembered as the best Constituency Youth Organiser Nabdam had ever had.
He revealed that even before officially assuming office, he and his team had been quietly undertaking various community development initiatives.
These include supporting the needy, facilitating access to safe drinking water and organising unity-building activities such as inter-community football tournaments to promote peace, togetherness and social cohesion.
He further pledged to work closely with the youth to advance development in the constituency and called on all party members to support his leadership.”I am calling on all factions and camps to unite for victory in 2028.
We need collective efforts to help in the development of Nabdam,” he appealed.
Some youth in the constituency who spoke after the election attributed his victory to his humble character, respect for people regardless of their age or social status, close connection with grassroots supporters and consistent support for youth activities and community needs.
With his election, expectations are high that the NDC youth wing in Nabdam will experience renewed energy, inclusiveness and purposeful leadership as the party prepares for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
