
The Ghana Water Resources Commission (WRC) has issued a notice on the planned controlled water spillage from the Bagré Dam in Burkina Faso.
The Commission wishes to inform all stakeholders and the general public of updates on the reservoir’s water levels, as provided by SONABEL, the operator of the Bagré Dam.According to the update, the reservoir water level of the Bagré Dam as of Tuesday, August 4, 2026 has risen to 232.93 metres.

The filling rate is currently estimated at about 62.77% .As a result, SONABEL plans to commence controlled spillage from Tuesday, August 11, 2026, provided the reservoir water level reaches 234.00 metres.
In a cautionary note, the Ghana Water Resources Commission reminded communities along the White Volta River and adjoining areas to take necessary precautions and adhere strictly to safety guidelines issued by their local assemblies and other relevant agencies.
