The 2024 presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on Ghanaian to reject former president John Dramani Mahama.
Addressing a rally at Bolgatanga to rap up his three-day campaign tour in the Upper East Region, the vice president called on the people of the region to reject the former president because he is a second hand president who has failed Ghanaians.
For Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, it is obvious that he is the choice of Ghanaians.
He accused John Dramani Mahama of failing the North and, as such, has no project to show. He mentioned that former president John Mahama deceived the North with nonexisting projects such as Savanah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA).
The vice-president claimed that the two-term tenure of the National Democratic Congress government under John Dramani Mahama could not complete a single road in the Upper East Region and had cancelled the teachers and nurses allowance as well as collapsed the National health insurance scheme.
“This election is a historic election we have a choice between going into the future or going to the past ,that is the choice that faeces us , do you want to go into the future or you want to go into past? the future or the past, this election will produce a new president for the Republic of Ghana, a new president not a second-hand failed president, but a new president, have you heard a new president not a second hand failed president.
When John Mahama was president of Ghana ,he said he wanted to developed the North, he set up the Savanah Accelerated Development Authority, they spent hundreds of billions have you seen one SADA project in Bolga, have you see one SADA project in Upper East, one SADA project in Upper West, one SADA in Northern region, one SADA project in North east or Savanah? .
There is not one legacy , we asked what did you do with that money .They said the reared guinea fowls, and it flew to Burkina Faso.
Do you want him to come back ,during his era ,eight years of the NDC government not one road was completed in the entire Upper East Region, eight years not one road ,do you want him to come back ,during his termed he cancelled teacher training allowance, he cancelled nursing training allowance, do you want him to come back, during his termed chalk was a problem in school, we stayed under dumsor for four years,do you want him to come back”.
The vice-president also chastised the former president for saying that he was not a magician during his era as president when Ghanaians complained of no jobs. The vice president president has, however, lauded his government for bringing development to many parts of the country as compared to the National Democratic Congress.
According to the vice-president, the NPP government has made some significant remarkable achievements in the sectors of the economy, agricultural, jobs creation, the industrial sector ,roads ,railways,interchanges,schools, hospitals ,fish landing site ,digitalization, drones system and many other government flagship initiatives programmes.
The vice-president also challenged the former president, John Dramani Mahama, to come forward for a debate if he thinks he has done better than the New Patriotic Party led government. He claimed the former president is running away because he has nothing to show as his 24- hour economy promise is empty and not definable.
He noted that the next Bawumia government will drive the country from the dependency of oil and gas to solar powered to generate electricity for the country.
The Bolgatanga Central parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Elvis Figo Awanikai noted that the New Patriotic Party led government has given the National Democratic Congress led government a wide margin in terms of development in the Bolgatanga Central constituency and a visible example, he added is the construction of 30 kilometres road at the cost of 64 millions Ghana cedis from Tanzui, Bolga Sherigu to Naaga and from Naaga to Navrongo which will be tarred soon. He disclosed that “there is another massive construction of another road from Sumbrungo around the Technical University to Zorko towards Namoo which has received the first coat, as well as the completed mechanical hob has completed behind the BOST , another road from Bolga Soe Akuta Tingani to Zaare stretch of road construction is currently ongoing at the cost of Gh25m, and in the next three months, that road will be tarred among other massive projects.”
Mr Elvis Atia Awunekai Figo noted that the current Bolgatanga Central constituency Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo has been running helter skelter because of the massive development the government of the New Patriotic Party has been carrying out in the constituency. He promised that by the end of October to November 2024, the Member of Parliament will run out of the constituency because the efforts on the grounds by him and his executives has given them a stronger signal that victory is glaring in the face of the member Parliament.
