The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the Bolgatanga Senior High (BigBoss) has renovated two boys’ dormitories of the school. Two male dormitories, Ajene and Bayala houses, have been renovated by the association.
Addressing the media after a short ceremony to hand over the renovated boys’ dormitory block, Mr. Leonard Anafo noted that the renovation was necessitated as a result of the deteriorating state and the prevailing discomfort.
In addition, the association also renovated the school canteen, which also serves as a guest house. The structure received new chairs, tables, and an installed DSTV. Two 10 seater toilet facilities have also been provided to reduce the incident of open defecating among students.
Mr. Leonard Anafo noted that the total cost of the renovation stood at one hundred and forty eight thousand, five hundred fifty Ghana. cedis (Gh148,550.00).
“The PTA started the renovation works of the Bayala Ajene House Block in July 2023. The renovation became critical in order to protect the students and their belongings being soaked with water in the dormitories anytime it rained. It was also to give a face-lift to the structure which had been severely affected by lack of repair for many years. The roof was re-roofed, electrical wiring was re-done, and ceiling and general furnishing works were done, new doors and louvre carriers and blades were fixed and painting work completed on 30 June, 2024 with the total project cost of Ghé 148.550.00 PITA has constructed 2-10 seater micro-fhesh toilet faciimes in collatioration with Rotary Club one each for male and female students respectively.
The PTA had undertaken renovation works on the school canteen that houses the guests’ house of the school. The renovation was done to give a face-lift to the structure that had been severely affected by lack of repair. The structure was painted, furnished with fifty chairs thirty tables, a deep freezer and a DSTV”. Mr Leonard Anafo noted.
Boabil Jonas Kuzoba, the house prefect for Bayala, narrated to news men in an interview how he and his colleagues used to suffer under the leaking roof couple with broken doors and widows. He bemoaned how stealing was rampant due to the broken nature of the doors and windows.
The headmaster of the school Mr. Anthony Adimazoya told press men that the renovation of the dormitory block was a timely intervention. For him, the dormitory block then exposed the students to a lot of hazards, and a such did not promote academic work.
He lauded the PTA for their support over the years. He described the PTA as a strong pillar relative to the progress of school.
He noted that the renovated project is a testament to what can be achieved when parents, teachers, and the community work together with a shared vision and purpose.
Mr Anthony Adimazoya thanked the Parent Teacher Association for their kind gesture and appealed to them to keep supporting the school because the school building needs a lot of renovations.
