The President Should Reassign Ken Offori-Atta to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection if He Can’t Fire Him- Dr. Kurt Nawani

The Member of Parliament for the Nabadam Constituency, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawani has suggested to the president to sack the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ken Offori-Atta or Reassign him the ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection or any other ministry if he cannot fire him.

“The president has refused to heed to calls for the dismissal of the Finance Minister who has failed in the management of the economy. The president can reassign him to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection or any other ministry “

Dr. Nawani made this claims at the back of the current economic negative outlook amidst the downgrade of the economy by major international rating agencies, S&P and Fitch in the last two weeks.

“His mismanagement of the economy has resulted in the free fall of the cedi and the downgrade of the economy by the rating agencies. Our Economy is now a junk economy. Why will you still keep him as a finance minister?”

The Member of Parliament was speaking on the Word Community Watch Show with Mr. Simon Agana on the inability of the medical stores in the Upper East Region to restock its facility with drugs in recent times.

He said the failure of goverhnment to make available monies due the National Health Insurance Authority to pay its suppliers and the free fall of the cedi are the reasons why the medical stores are empty.

“The finance Minister has failed to make available monies due the National Health Insurance Authority to pay its suppliers and so they are not able to buy drugs to stock the facility. The free fall of the cedi and the rate that government pays for drugs are reasons for the current state of the facility. “

Dr. Nawani said government has basically destroyed the National Health Insurance Scheme and made it ineffective.
