The Member of Parliament for the Assin Central Constituency of the Central region and a member of the New Patriotic Party, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, has called on 15 regional chairmen of the party to resign from their positions after their preferred candidate for the National Secretary position of the party failed to win the position.
A visibly disturbed Kennedy Agaypong said all the 15 chairmen would have resigned from their post if it was elsewhere.
“All the 15 regional Chairmen would have resigned if it was elsewhere. For the first time in the history of this NPP political party, you see 15 regional chairmen raising their hands because they have been whipped “
All the regional Chairmen except one, lead by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Antwi Bosiako, popurly called chairman Wuntumi, in a video openly declared their support for the Incumbent National Secretary, John Boadu.
Many expected that their declaration would sway voters to vote for John Boadu but it turned out in the contrary. Justin Frimpong Koduah beat John Boadu with 2,837 as against 2,524 to snatch the seat.
Reacting to the outcome of the election, Hon.Kennedy Agyapong who has declared his interest to contest for the flagbearer position of the party, said the 15 regional Chairmen have been disgraced by the turn out of the results. “They have all been disgraced.”
The lawmaker also cautioned the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Bosiako , to cool down with his actions and behaviour because he doesn’t own the party
“Chairman Wuntumi should cool down. He should cool down, he doesn’t own this party”
