The Municipal Chief Executive for the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly has given the clearest of indications that he will not tolerate anybody who will want to frustrate the assembly’s effort to decongest the business district of the municipality.

The Bolgatanga municipal assembly recently begun a decongestion exercise in the Bolgatanga central market a move to bring sanity to the regional capital. Grain sellers were the first group that were asked to relocate from the new market to the old Tachiman market.

The MCE in an exclusive interview on the Word Community Watch Show said he fears the city was fast becoming a slum and thus the urgent need for pragmatic action to decongest and beautifier the municipality

”I said somewhere that Bolga is fast becoming a slum and if care is not taken it will not be fine for us in the next 10 years and we will not allow it, at least not under my watch”

After few weeks of first resistance from the grain sellers which culminated in the refusal of the grain sellers and their suppliers to sell for about three market days, the assembly eventually successfully moved them to their new location.

There are however few recalcitrant women who have refused to relocate ton the new site and are still selling in the new market.

Hon. Rex Asanga warns that the assembly will soon start legal prosecution of recalcitrant grain sellers who continue to sell in the Bolgatanga market new market despite the directive for them to relocate to the old market also known as old Techiman old station.

” I want to warn those traders who continue to sell there, the soldiers can’t be there always so we will start to prosecution, we will start sending people to court”
