Stop Pushing Weak Students to Visual Arts, Home Economics and Technical Programs.

The Most Outstanding Teacher, 2021, Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Otoo has called on the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Education and the CSSPS to stop the practice of posting students with low grades to Visual Arts, Home Economics and Technical programs in the Senior High Schools with the perceive misconception that such programs are not difficult to pursue.

Mr. Ebenezer said he is against the practice of placing students with low grades to pursue Visual Arts and other related programs at the SHS level .

” We always have problems with them always pushing weak students to Visual Arts and Home Economic programs and that one, i always speak against it. The Visual Arts, Home Economics and the Technical programs are not for the weak students. That’s why we are suffering.

He said the country is suffering from poor construction and architectural structures because of the practice of placing weak students in those programs in the secondary schools.

” That’s why our architects do put up buildings and so many things and in few years the buildings start developing cracks and other things, why? because we keep pushing weak students to the Visual Arts programs. We are saying to the authorities to allow the good students to come to the Visual Arts and Technical programs. “

Mr. Ebenezer said if the students with best grades are allowed or placed in these programs, the nation stand to benefit from the artisanal and architectural works from these students and they may be exported to other countries with its foreign exchange benefits to the economy.

Mr. Ebenezer made the appeal when he appeared as a guest on the morning show of Word FM dubbed Word Community Watch Show in the Bolga East District of the Upper East Region.

Mr. Ebenezer Kojo Otoo, 44, of the Winniba Senior High School in the Efutu Municipality of the Central Region was Adjudged The Most Outstanding Teacher for the year 2021.

For his prize, Mr Otoo received a GHC250,000.00 cheque for a three-bedroom house sponsored by GLICO Pension.
