Some MPs are Putting their Money into Good Use – Dr. Ayine to GETFUND Administrator

The Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga East Constituency Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has appealed to the administrator of the GETFUND to ensure that the component of the fund allocated to Members of Parliament  for developmental purposes are released on time.

According to Dr. Ayine he is a shining example of  MPs who are using their little resources allocation judiciously.

“If the administrator of GETFUND happens to watch or listen to this broadcast, the Administrator should know that there are MPs who are using the GETFUND allocation for very constructive developmental purposes and if he wants to use Bolga – East constituency as an example, he is welcomed to do so.”

He said this during an event to commission a six units class room block  at Zonno Zoore ,a suburb of Zuarungu in the Bolga East district of the Upper East Region on Monday, June 28, 2021.

The modern school complex which is fully funded by the MP’s portion of the GETFUND, started few years ago but, delays in the release of funds from GETFUND delayed the early completion of the project.

The Member of Parliament for the area indicated that, although the project was being commissioned the contractor was yet to receive the full payment for the project.

“We still owe the contractor some money. I am hoping that GETFUND would release the rest of MPs Common funds very soon  for us to pay they contractor and buy the computers and the furniture that the school needs.”

The pupils from the Zonno Zoore community hitherto had to cross a dam and a valley before they could get access to formal education in other nearby communities because they had none in the community. The construction and commissioning of the school will bring education closer to students in the area.

The head teacher of the school Mr. Awuni Peter expressed gratitude to the Hon. Ayine for the construction of the facility in the area as that would improve access to education. The headmaster however made a special appeal to the assembly and other benevolent individuals to provide them with furniture and computers.

”Through my District Education Director, I am appealing to the District Assembly to add to what the MP has done, by supplying my students and my teachers with dual desks to facilitate teaching and learning.I am also appealing for the supply of computers to the school  so that our children will also have a feel of ICT education.

The District Education Director, Mr.George Asira on behalf of the Ghana Education Service called on the community to take good care of the edifice.

“I am delighted to witness this commissioning of the Zonno Zoore School block . I am convinced that children, parents, and school authorities who are the ultimate beneficiaries of this project will  take care of this facility.”

The community members, teachers and people of the Zono Zoore community presented a smock to the MP as a token of appreciation for the work he has done for them.

Dr. Ayine on his part thanked the community for that thoughtful gesture and assured them of his commitment to the development of the constituency.

Dr. Dominic Ayine, in his  bid to encouraged the pupils of the school to take their studies serious, gave them some exercise books and other stationary.

He admonished them to study hard and become better people than he himself.

” I want the pupil to become better than I am. I want them to become men and women of substance so that this community would be uplifted by the education of its own people.”
