BTU: Vice Chancellor was appointed in Accordance with the Technical University Act,2016.

The senior members of the Bolgatanga Technical University has backed the appointment of Associate Professor, Samuel Eramus Alnaa as the newly appointed vice Chancellor of the University.


The senior members of the University at a press conference, discounted the claims made by a staff of the University that there is a disquiet among some Senior members of the school after the appointment of the Vice Chancellor.

“ The said write-up by Mr. Akanpaadgi indicated that Senior Members of the University were not happy with the processes leading to the appointment of Prof. Alnaa as a Vice Chancellor. His write-up came as a surprise to many in the university since they were unaware of any anxiety by Senior Members of the University regarding the appointment of Prof. Alnaa as the Vice Chancellor By the governing council”


The group said Mr. Akanpaadgi failed to mention the names of the Senior Members who expressed disquiet regarding the of Prof. Alnaa as Vice Chancellor at a meeting called by Convocation to deliberate on the issue.

“convocation therefore called for a meeting to deliberate on the write-up by Mr. Akanpaadgi since it’s members are senior members of the University. During the Convocation meeting, Mr. Akanpaadgi admitted authoring the write-up but failed to indicate the senior members who expressed anxiety regarding the Appointment of the Vice Chancellor and no senior member indicated his/her support to the write-up by Mr. Akanpaadgi.


Convocation said the processes leading to the appointment of Prof. Alnaa and other five key office holders were in accordance with the Technical Universities Act,2016.


“The processes leading to the appointment of Prof. Samuel E. Alnaa and other five key office holders by the university council were in Accordance with the Technical Universities Act,2016(Act 922) as amended and the new status of the university”

“ Convocation approved the appointment of Prof. Samuel E. Alnaa as Vice Chancellor of the University in line with the recommendations of the search committee.”


The Convocation of the school said they stand by the decision of Council as it finds the “ self acclaimed Dr. Emmanuel Akanpaadgi as unfortunate, unfounded and malicious and wishes to inform the media and our respected public to disregard it for it’s lack of substance”


The group also disclosed that the issue has been referred to council for the appropriate sanctions to be taken in line with the rules and regulations of the University.
