Armed soldiers in military uniform in Bawku, this evening shot and killed 3 civilians, said to be unarmed. The incident occurred at Sabongari, a suburb of Bawku municipality in the Upper East Region.
Eye witnesses told www.mywordfmonline.com that the soldiers stormed the area, picked the victims up into a military car and drove to an unknown location. They were severely beaten and later shot dead.
Meanwhile, a lecturer with the Bolgatanga Technical University in the Upper East Region, Alhassan Azumah was also shot dead in his private residence in Bolgatanga by some unknown assailants. This has created fear and panic in the Bolgatanga municipality.
This has been the second attack in the Bolgatanga municipality, the first was in December 2023, where a commercial bus travelling from Garu to Goaso was attacked by some unknown assailants. Both incidents has been linked to the conflict in Bawku.
Relations of the deceased victims, this outlet understands are rejecting the bodies.
