New Patriotic Party presidential hopeful – Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has shattered doors to influential party bigwigs pleading on him to forgo the impending presidential primaries contest for a running mate position.
He told delegates in the Upper East Region that he is not prepared to step down for anybody and never ready for anything like the vice president slot.
At the C . K Tedam University in the Navrongo Central constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong asked delegates to be bold and defend their right to vote and be voted for.
“All those who are intimidating you don’t have a voice in Ghana here for NPP to win power. They don’t have a voice unless I speak, nobody can win the elections, they are begging me behind the scenes, some are saying step down, we are going to give you this money, some are saying step down, we want you to be Vice President. For the sake of the grassroots and the polling stations executives, I’m not going to step down today or tomorrow”.
He entreated delegates to vote for him because their welfare is his prioty.
He indicated that leaders of the party have abandoned the party grassroots after gaining power in the 2016 elections. He noted that employment opportunities are the reserved for the certificate holders, where as party supporters are left unattended to.
