The chief of Doba, Naaba Jebsira Abaane Atinyua II in the Kassena Nankana municipality of the Upper East Region has declared that the land dispute between Doba and Kandiaga has been resolved.

Disclosed this at the celebration of the Isi and Poyaasi festival in Doba organized by Sirigu Women Organization For Pottery And Art.
Sponsored by the Canadian Fund for local initiatives, the celebration is aimed at building peace within the two communities.
“The era where we used to run for our lives is over, peace is returning to the two communities. There is peace between Doba and Kandiaga now, people of Doba who could not go to Kandiaga to do anything are now walking to Kandiaga drinking pito, those who could not visit their girls in Doba or Kandiaga should rush now for their girlfriends before its too late”.
He admonished the people of Doba and Kandiaga not take his words for granted and embrace peace to make way for development.
The manageress of the Sirigu Women’s Organization For Pottery And Art, Mrs. Bridgette Adongo Akasise expressed joy over the zeal and readiness of the two communities to make peace.
Aweek ago, some women from Doba and Navrongo who are daughters of Kandiaga joined the people of Kandiaga to celebrate the Isi and Poyaasi celebration in Kandiaga and same is been witness in Doba.
Mrs. Doris Azinasa, a native of Kandiaga was pleased that due to the involvement of the Sirigu Women’s Organization For Pottery and Art and the paramount chief of the Sirigu traditional area, the paramount chief of Navrongo, peace have gradually returned to the communities.
She noted that schools, markets in the two communities were shutdowned, but for now, the markets, schools and other economic activities are gradually gaining normalcy in the two communities.
