The Ghana Bible Society of Ghana will this year, celebrate the National Literacy Day in the Upper Region of Ghana, Bolgatanga.
The National Coordinator of the Bible Society of Ghana, Mr. Ronald Nettey, disclosed this on the Word Community Watch Show on Wednesday 7th September, 2022, in a studio interview with My Simon Agana.
Mr. Ronald said the one day event will see the gathering of its members and stakeholders at the Ramsey Park, before embarking on a float through the principal streets of Bolgatanga and finally converge at the Kofi Awinor In-service Conference centre of the Ghana Health service on Thursday 8th September, 2022.
The celebration will be used by the Bible Society of Ghana to promote the reading and writing in the local Guruni language.

High level officials of the Swedish Mission Council Guruni Literacy programme will also travel from Sweden to join their Ghanaian counterparts to celebrate the occasion.
The National Literacy was initiated on 8th September, 1967 by proclamation of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural organisation, and has since been celebrated globally every year to remind the public of the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights and to advance the litteracy agenda towards a more literate and sustainable society.
The Bible Society of Ghana is a non-denominational organisation with voluntary membership across the country.
