A meeting between the four pre-tertiary teacher Unions and government to resolve the strike action over the demand for the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) has ended inconclusive, the Ghana National Association of Teachers has announced.
Today’s meeting was attended by various stakeholders including the Ministry of Employment, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Finance among other, in attempt to find an early solution and to persuade the teachers to return to the classroom but that have since failed.
The leadership of the GNAT in a communicaque through text messag to its members, said the meeting failed to resolve their grievances.
“Comrades, this is to inform all our members that, our meeting with the Government side over COLA for our members today,6th July, 2022,ended INCONCLUSIVE,”
Leadership of the teacher Unions have therefore asked its members to continue the strike action as they await a new date to be scheduled for further discussions.
“This means nothing has changed and our industrial action still stands.”
Four Pre-Tertiary teacher Unions, GNAT, NAGRAT, TEWU, and CCT declared a strike action on Monday 4th July, 2022, over demands for government to pay a Cost of Living Allowance to its members to cushion them over the high cost of living and the persistent increase in prices of commodities.
