The Upper East Regional Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of Mr. Apam Azubilla (45) and his wife, Mrs. Apam Anomsigna (35), at Kusanaba, a suburb of Bawku West District Zebilla According to the DCOP John Ferguson Dzineku, the suspects were arrested at their hideout on 19th June 2026 at Kugre near Garu.
The preliminary investigations indicate that on 10th June 2026, Mr. Azubilla and his wife were in their room when four men armed with weapons entered and attacked them, before shooting the couple.Mr. Azubilla shouted for help, and his brother, Ayubugre Apam, who heard the cries, rushed to their room and found the couple lying motionless on the floor with blood around them. The suspects then fled the scene.
The deceased couple’s family rushed them to Zegoyire Health Centre, where Mrs. Apam Anomsigna was pronounced dead on arrival. Mr. Apam Azubilla was also pronounced dead on arrival at the Zebilla District Hospital**, where he had been referred for further medical attention.
A police statement signed by the Upper East Regional Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Abdul-Rahman Sumaila, said an examination of the bodies confirmed gunshot wounds. The family of the deceased also handed over to the police three (3) AK47 shell cartridges.
The four suspects are currently in police custody and will be arraigned before the court.
