The Happy Man Foundation has made a significant impact in Kalbeo Avoolibisi, a suburb of the Bolgatanga municipality in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The community welcomed the support provided by the CEO of Charger Limited, Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, with great joy.Kalbeo Avoolibisi has long suffered from a water crisis, resulting in long queues and residents walking great distances to access water. Many boreholes in the area run dry between March , April and May, leaving residents waiting at most boreholes for over many hours for water.

The recent support from the Happy Man Foundation aims to alleviate this pressing issue.During the handover ceremony, Atanga Alex, speaking on behalf of Dr. Borketey emphasized that this borehole is not just about providing water. It represents health, dignity, opportunity, and resilience for the community.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6, which seeks to ensure access to clean water and sanitation for all.Alex highlighted that Charger Limited views social impact as central to its operations, not merely a side effort.

He reiterated the foundation’s commitment to practical, measurable, and community-driven solutions, recognizing that access to clean water is a critical challenge in underserved communities across Ghana. The new borehole will provide consistent access to safe water, which is expected to reduce the prevalence of water-borne diseases, ease the burden on women and children who travel long distances for water, and support local agriculture and food security. This project reflects Charger Limited’s broader vision of fostering long-term development and community well-being.

Alex urged the residents and leadership of Kalbeo-Avolebisi to take ownership of the facility and work together to maintain it for future generations. He stated, “When communities have clean water, they thrive. When children don’t miss school to fetch water, they learn. This is what progress looks like, and this is our commitment, one project, one partnership, one community at a time.

”The Assembly member for the community, Hon. Sonny Ayariga, expressed gratitude to Dr. Borketey and his company, praying for their continued success. He encouraged residents to take care of the borehole.
According to the former assembly member, Mr . Godwin Akapire, the Chief’s representative of the community, which numbers close to 7,000 people, has faced basic needs, particularly water. Women often travel several kilometres to fetch water, hindering their children’s education and health.
He encouraged the community to support Happy Man Bitters for their outreach efforts while also urging responsible consumption.
The women of Kalbeo Avoolibisi expressed immense gratitude for the borehole, sharing stories of the challenges they faced for years. One elderly woman recounted how the scarcity of potable water has even led some daughters-in-law to leave their marriages due to the difficulties in accessing water for domestic needs.
